Update October 09th, 2017: Please note that the date of Toronto World Leadership Forum has changed to 20-21 April 2018.
Kristin J. Arnold is more than just a Certified Professional Speaker: she is a Certified Professional Facilitator, bringing to stage a new interactive approach by directly engaging and involving the audience into her speeches, thus creating the opportunity for a memorable learning experience. Educated as a man of action, she guides her audience out of the gaze of theory, providing best practices and insights in order to boost businesses and improve the participants’ professional and personal skills.
Her Coast Guard Academy background instilled high standards in all areas she has undertaken since then, proving discipline and high standards in everything she has done. Another crucial aspect of her training as a Coast Guard was the ability to work as part of a team, more exactly to be a constructive team member and to have the determination to achieve results against all odds by being tenacious and tough. For this, you need to get out of your comfort zone and see struggle and adversity as necessary means for personal development.
In the military first you need to learn to lead yourself. To be a good follower, to receive and execute commands, is just as important as it is to be able to give them. Military personnel do not perform leadership by shouting orders and expecting compliance. Except times of danger, leadership needs to be motivational and not dictatorial. People will follow you because you are competent, trustworthy and not because you command respect.
This is only a short introduction to Kristin Arnold’s topic:” Keep Moving Don’t Settle! Leadership Challenges in the Army”.
